BLUE THE FOUNDIATIONS OF THE SPIRIT

San Pio Sanctuary by Renzo Piano

San Giovanni Rotondo, September 4, 2025. The Municipality of San Giovanni Rotondo presents: “Blue The Foundations of the Spirit”, a widespread exhibition organized on the occasion of the 2025 Jubilee, curated by Cristina Maiorano.

The exhibition intertwines the visionary legacy of Yves Klein with the research of contemporary artists — Luca Pozzi, Francesco Fossati, Vincenzo Marsiglia, and Penzo+Fiore — giving life to an artistic and spiritual pilgrimage between the Sanctuary of Saint Pio and the churches of the ancient village. Not just a simple exhibition itinerary, but a journey into art and spirit: every place becomes a threshold, every work a gateway to the invisible. At the heart of the path, in the foyer of the Sanctuary, Yves Klein’s ex-votos are presented, including the Monocromo blu (Blue Monochrome) from the Monastery of Santa Rita da Cascia, alongside the famous Tables Monogold, Monopink, Monoblue, and La Terre Bleue (The Blue Earth). Gold, pink, and blue as body, soul, and spirit; pure pigments as immaterial matter; the globe transfigured into a cosmic sphere. In dialogue, Luca Pozzi’s works activate new resonances: a blue sponge suspended in void thanks to a magnetic field (Background Inside Platform) and a “cosmic” mirror that decodes subatomic signals in real time (Arkanian Mirror).
