LOOPS

Graphic Novel

Published for the first time in May 2023 by Bao Publishing, LOOPS is a groundbreaking graphic novel written by Luca Pozzi and illustrated by Elisa Macellari. Born from an ongoing dialogue with theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli, the book functions as an interdisciplinary relational artwork, designed to bridge the gap between abstract science and visual storytelling. To date, this global journey has reached readers in seven languages, having been translated into French, Spanish, German, Italian, Chinese, Russian, and Japanese.

The narrative unfolds in a lush, pristine South East Asian jungle—a setting where mangrove forests, ancient Buddhist temples, and wild animals provide a vivid backdrop for the exploration of reality. Through a quasi-classical dialogue between the two protagonists—the scientist and the artist—the book demystifies the key concepts of the Loop Quantum Gravity conjecture. It transforms complex ideas like the “atoms of space,” the “Big Bounce,” and the “network of kisses” into a tangible, emotional experience.

More than just a biography or a science manual, LOOPS is a “message in a bottle” sent through a horizontal and democratic medium. It invites the reader to reconsider their own nature, suggesting that we are not merely observers of the universe, but information in motion—essential nodes within a vast, interconnected, and harmonic cosmic ecosystem.
