The Big Field

Magnetic Pull System

The Big Field is a probabilistic pictorial device meticulously crafted to reflect the proportions of a standard ping-pong table. The genesis of the work is deeply rooted in the stages of chemical transformation applied to the four aluminum modules that form its structure. These industrial surfaces undergo a rigorous process, enduring a massive “bombing” of glass and steel spheres before being immersed in an electrochemical anodizing bath, which determines the work’s characteristic and final color. This Magnetic Pull System is further defined by a series of strings, conceived by the artist as a local extrusion of the two-dimensional support. This structural arrangement is specifically designed to maintain two colored ping-pong balls in a state of constant magnetic attraction and suspension, effectively freezing a moment of potential energy within the pictorial space.
