Background Inside Platforms Through M Influence
Electromagnetic Levitation
Luca Pozzi’s installation “Background Inside Platform Through M Influence” functions as a compelling visual and sensory laboratory that translates advanced theoretical physics into a tangible physical experience. Focusing deeply on the scientific concept of “duality”—the idea that models appearing completely different on the surface can share the same underlying nature—the artwork maps out equivalent geometries of information across two primary planes within the gallery space.
The physical experience begins on a horizontal axis, where a narrow runway composed of five distinct modules stretches across the floor. Each module represents one of the five mathematically equivalent superstring theories, operating simultaneously through a visible geometry of aluminum, linoleum, and water, and an invisible geometry generated by electromagnetic levitation fields. Triggering a precise rhythmic progression, natural marine sponges are suspended in mid-air via magnetic force over these platforms. Each sponge is assigned a specific chromatic identity, transforming these organic entities into poetic, absorbing actors that hover within silent fields of force.
This horizontal journey ultimately culminates in an equivalent vertical counterpart: a photographic composition of the exact same format but shifted onto a vertical coordinate system. Within this vertical plane, the inherent absorbing capacity of the sponges is structurally heightened and pierced by a pentagonal architecture made entirely of light—a light that, unlike the organic self-sufficiency of the sponges, actively emerges to define and alter the space. Through this calculated interplay of levitation, materiality, and geometry, the artwork ultimately visualizes a cosmic singularity, capturing the precise moment where an expanding cone of light narrows down into a single focal zero-point, only to re-explode into the infinite, indeterminate potential of a dual reference landscape.
