Opening: 21 September, 7 pm
The Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation presents, from 21 September to 10 November, at Palazzo Re Rebaudengo, the exhibition Da Guarene at Etna 2019, Boiling Projects, curated by Filippo Maggia.
Twenty years after the first exhibition held in Taormina in December 1999 and subsequent editions (the last, GE / 14 Altro delle immagini, in 2014), the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation of Turin celebrates this long series of exhibitions that have marked significantly four decades of photographic research in Italy with a new exhibition with the emblematic title From Guarene to Etna 2019, Boiling Projects.
Twenty-five artists are the protagonists of the new appointment that will take place in Guarene d’Alba in the historic headquarters of the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation starting from September 21st. Twenty-five artists including Luca Campigotto, Paola De Pietri, Alessandra Spranzi, Francesco Jodice, Antonio Biasiucci, Pino Musi, Carmelo Nicosia, Daniele De Lonti, Luca Andreoni, Tancredi Mangano and Antonio Fortugno, photographers who were considered “emerging” in 1999 , and which today appear as references for the younger generations.
Since then, photography in Italy has traveled many different paths, also very different, widening the horizons and above all the sense that today we would like to give to the image.
Once again specifying his inherent fragmentation, photographic research is presented as a container of ideas and projects which, by fermenting, finally find solutions sometimes in line with the historical moment in which we live, at other times presenting themselves as escape routes or, again, mirror of existential conditions, as reflected in the works of younger authors such as Claudio Gobbi, Gianni Troilo, the duo formed by Tommaso Fiscaletti and Nic Grober, Gianni Ferrero Merlino, Francesco Cardarelli, Nicolò Degiorgis, Luca Pozzi, up to Renato Leotta, Marco Tagliafico, Paola Pasquaretta, Tiziano Mainieri, Elisa Crostella, Giuliano Severini and Francesco Di Giovanni.
From Guarene to Etna 2019 was created in collaboration with the OELLE Mediterraneo Antico Foundation of Catania which, in the spring of 2020, will re-propose the exhibition in Sicily.
